designed in collaboration with Maritina Tselepi at Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule under the supervision of Marianne Sellmaier
The project was created during a week-long design sprint which focused on additive manufacturing during my Erasmus exchange.
3D printing is a highly precise technology that allows the user to control complex geometries and translate them to objects in great detail. Layer by layer, the filament is transformed into a desired shape. This project uses the same precision and methodology to sculpt an unexpected material - yeast dough. Under various conditions, the material behaves in predictable, yet uncontrollable ways: growing, expanding, collapsing and changing colour.
The object, once easily described with geometrical curves, is tranformed into a unique, organic sculpture.
